The fine chemical industry,encompassing specialty chemicals and new chemical materials,is characterized by high product value and rapid demand growth.It serves as an important engine for stable growth and transformational upgrading within the petrochemical industry and is an indispensable material support for high-quality manufacturing development.In 2023,China's fine chemical industry achieved a business revenue of 3.9 trillion yuan,with over 30,000 products.More than 1,000 specialized and innovative"little giant"enterprises have emerged,and there are over 400 chemical parks across the country that take the fine chemical industry as the leading industry,forming a number of distinctive fine chemical industry clusters.However,it is also necessary to recognize that the fine chemical industry still faces challenges such as weak research and development,unstable technical equipment foundations,a lack of high-end products,significant safety and environmental pressures,and insufficient coordination between upstream and downstream sectors,which constrain the high-quality development of the industry.The state has introduced the"Fine Chemical Industry Innovation and Development Implementation Plan(2024-2027),"which will vigorously promote the development of the fine chemical industry,extend and strengthen the industry chain,and guide the fine chemical industry towards high-end,green,and intelligent development,providing a solid foundation for building a strong manufacturing nation.
"Guangdong,as an important petrochemical base in China,has formed a complete industrial system from upstream oil extraction,refining,ethylene production to downstream synthetic materials and fine chemicals.Guangdong's green petrochemical industry has developed into a trillion-yuan-level industrial cluster,with five major petrochemical bases in Huizhou Daya Bay,Zhanjiang,Maoming,Guangzhou,and Jieyang.With the successive commissioning and differentiated development of major petrochemical projects such as ExxonMobil,BASF,and Sinopec Shell,on the one hand,multinational companies are optimistic about the prospects and potential of the domestic market and continue to increase their investment in Guangdong.On the other hand,the global trend in the green petrochemical industry is'reduce oil,increase chemicals,'which will further promote Guangdong's fine chemical industry to increase investment in scientific and technological innovation and research and development,forming a batch of technologies and equipment with independent intellectual property rights,leading a new trend in the development of the fine chemical industry.
